a “Presumed recovered” means 30 days have elapsed since individual’s diagnosis and the person is not hospitalized.

The above numbers represent a snapshot in time, and will change daily or even hourly as new data come in. We are including both laboratory-confirmed cases, and probable cases, meaning cases believed to have COVID-19 based on symptoms and exposure to confirmed cases (identified via contact tracing), but who cannot yet qualify for testing at this time. If you are experiencing cough and fever, you should isolate yourself from well family members, and stay home until 3 days after your symptoms resolve without medications. If your symptoms worsen, contact your health care provider for a telemedicine consultation. We continue to stress the importance of washing hands, maintaining social distancing, and staying home.

MONTGOMERY TWP. GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

Montgomery Township officials and township staff are resolved to do everything we can to support our community during this difficult time. Although our buildings remain closed, we are still working and available to serve you. If you have any questions, please check the Twp. website at montgomery.nj.us first, then call the municipal building at 908-359-8211 or email receptionist@twp.montgomery.nj.us.

ILLNESS & TESTING

  • If you are experiencing cough and fever, you should isolate yourself from well family members, and stay home until three days after your symptoms resolve without medications. If your symptoms worsen, contact your health care provider. Go to Montgomery Health’s COVID-19 Webpage or dial 908-533-9319 for assistance.
  • Testing for COVID-19 is available for Somerset and Hunterdon County residents who are exhibiting symptoms, such as fever, dry cough and shortness of breath, have a doctor’s authorization, and with appointment. If you qualify, free drive-thru testing is at Raritan Valley Community College. The next test dates are June 2nd and 4th. Call 908-237-7150 to make an appointment.
  • There will also be a free covid-19 testing clinic at ZuFall’s Center on June 3rd at the Franklin Twp. Middle School. Call 908-526-2335 before June 3rd to register. Free face masks available.
  • If you are a senior citizen in need of transportation to a doctor’s appointment, please contact Somerset County Transportation at 908-231-7115.

MUNICIPAL BUSINESS

  • Payments – Sewer bills has been extended from June 1st to July 1st and 2nd quarter property taxes have been extended to June 1st.  Payments received by end of business day on June 1st are on time. Any payments received after June 1st will be charged interest going back to 5/1/20. For methods of payment, while the Twp. building is closed, go to Payments on the Twp. website or call Peggie the Receptionist at 908-359-8211.
  • Voting – On May 15 the Governor passed an order that every registered voter will be mailed a Vote By Mail Ballot or Application ahead of the Primary Election Day, Tuesday, July 7. Watch your mail.

CURRENTLY CLOSED

  • Montgomery Township school buildings will remain closed and remote learning will continue through the end of the school year.
  • State, County and Montgomery Township Parks including pathways and tennis courts have re-opened but playing fields and playgrounds remain closed.
  • The Montgomery Township Recreation (609-466-3023) and Senior Center (609-466-0846), Municipal Building (908-359-8211), and Container Facility at Public Works Yard (908-874-3144) remain physically closed until further notice, but employees are still at work to answer your questions.
  • Last Friday, the Recreation Dept. announced the cancellation of summer camp programs. A poll revealed low parental interest from last year’s participating families.  We will continue to post info on day care alternatives as more information becomes available.

CURRENTLY OPEN

  • This weekend, Somerset County is holding a Household Hazardous Waste Drop-off Saturday, from 9 AM to 2 PM at the So. County Public Works Garage, 410 Roycefield Rd., Hillsborough. Proof of County residency and adherence to social distancing measures is required.
  • Also at 9 AM to 2 PM on Saturday at the same location, there will be a Drive-Thru Old/Unwanted Medication Drop-off. Medication must be in the original package with the name of the medication visible. Personal identification info on labels should be removed.
  • Local restaurants are closed for dining-in but most still offer delivery and take-out. See our Business Directory on the Twp. website.
  • Essential businesses such as grocery and pharmacy are fully open and non-essential businesses can now arrange pick-ups for purchases. Call your favorite local retail store for details. We encourage you to Shop Local and support Montgomery businesses.

REMINDERS

  • If you are out in public, wear a mask and social distance by six feet. Let’s protect one another.
  • New Jersey has formed a COVID-19 Fraud Task Force. To report any instance of price gouging, charity scams, procurement fraud, scam calls, or any other related unlawful activity, please call 866-720-5721.
  • Please complete your 2020 census. Funding of critical federal funding determined through the official census counts. Ten minutes to answer ten questions will have impact for the next ten years. If you have any questions, call 844-330-2020.
