Storm Recovery Update & Municipal Resources

As of this morning, 90% of PSE&G customers have had power restored from Tuesday’s storm; however, there are still households in Montgomery without power and many trees have suffered wind damage.  The Township will continue to focus its emergency personnel and resources so that needed services may be provided to residents in the coming days (details below).

Mayor Sadaf Jaffer stated, “I understand the difficulties faced by community members in light of Tropical Storm Isaias. I would like to thank our public works department for their efforts in clearing debris as well as the Police Department and EMS for all their work including providing necessary resources to residents. Finally thanks to the staff of the Otto Kauffman Community Center for operating as a cooling, charging, and internet connectivity center as we continue to recover from this powerful storm.”

Beginning Monday August 10th DPW will be picking up tree branches/debris from the Isaias storm. This will include state and county roads.

  • Place branches curbside in a pile, not in the street, by Monday.
  • Branches must be NO longer than 3 feet in length. If the branches are longer than 3 feet they will be left at the curb.

The Otto Kauffman Community Center, 356 Skillman Rd, Skillman, NJ 08558, will be open as a cooling, charging, and internet connectivity center Sat. (8/8) & Sun. (8/9) 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Residents must sign in with name, address, and phone number for contact tracing purposes, wear masks and socially distance.

Potable water is available near the wheelchair ramp in front of the Montgomery Township Municipal Building at 2261 Rt. 206, Belle Mead, NJ 08502.

Thank you for your cooperation as we assist residents in recovering from the storm.
