TODAY’S COVID-19 CASE SUMMARY
There were just two (2) new cases in Montgomery and Rocky Hill since our last report on Wednesday, 5-19-21. Detailed Case Report at the end of this ebulletin.
FEWER COVID CASES AS VACCINATIONS RISE
For a second time in a row, Montgomery and Rocky Hill have reported fewer than five new cases for an entire week, a trend that the Montgomery Health Department attributes to the increasing incidence of local adults who have been vaccinated. Just three new cases were reported for the seven days ending today, similar to the four cases reported the week before.
“We are very close to being in the green zone,” said Montgomery Township Deputy Health Officer Devangi Patel, referring to the least severe public health classification. She encourages more residents to take the shot, including youth 12 and older who are now eligible for the Pfizer vaccine. “It’s working,” she said.
Over 8 in 10 Montgomery and Rocky Hill adults have now received at least one dose of vaccine.
MONTGOMERY TO HOLD VACCINE CLINIC TOMORROW
Montgomery Township will hold another Moderna vaccine clinic tomorrow for anyone 18 and older, Saturday May 22, from 9am to noon at the Otto Kaufman Community Center in Skillman. Appointments are available, but walk-ins are accepted as well.
To sign up for tomorrow, or to review other scheduled clinic dates, visit the Montgomery health department website.
Somerset County is hosting a series of vaccine clinics, including the Pfizer vaccine for minors as young as 12 years old, with parental consent. The Pfizer vaccine will be offered today (Friday) from 4pm to 6pm at the Somerset County Senior Wellness Center in Bridgewater. Princeton University also is hosting a series of Pfizer vaccination clinics open to the public ages 12 and up.

RE-SCHEDULED DOCUMENT SHREDDING ON SATURDAY
Somerset County has rescheduled its May Operation Secure Shred to Saturday, May 22, at the Somerset County Public Works Garage, North County Facility located at 411 Chimney Rock Road in Bridgewater from 9am to 1pm, or until the trucks are filled. The event is a free and an easy way for residents to help guard against identity theft. The event will occur rain or shine.
Last weekend the vendor hired to do the shredding failed to arrive, forcing the postponement of the event to this Saturday.
Participants can bring up to six boxes, containers or bags of documents per visit, but they will be required to take back receptacles. Staples and paperclips do not have to be removed. Junk mail, magazines and newspapers will NOT be accepted.
To participate in secure shred, proof of Somerset County residency will be required. For a complete list of shredding events and locations, visit www.co.somerset.nj.us/shredding.
