11-16: Rising Cases in Montgomery; New Limits on Gatherings; NJ State Health Exchange Open; Montgomery Recipe Exchange

TODAY’S COVID-19 CASE SUMMARY

There have been eleven (11) new cases in Montgomery/Rocky Hill since our last report Friday, 11-13-20.  A full report, with age breaks, will come later this week.

RISING CASES PROMPT NEW LIMITS ON GATHERINGS

The 11 new COVID-19 cases reported this morning among Montgomery residents continue a worrying pattern over the last four weeks. Cases reported among residents do not include 53 positive tests reported over the weekend at the Carrier Clinic, a behavioral health facility in Belle Mead, where there has been an outbreak among staff and patients in a single unit. None of those staff and patients live in Montgomery, so their cases are reported based on their hometowns.

In response to a record-setting weekend of COVID cases across the state, New Jersey has announced that all indoor gatherings will be limited to 10 people starting tomorrow morning, down from 25 previously. Outdoor gatherings are being limited to 150, down from 500. These changes will impact private gatherings for holidays, such as Thanksgiving.

“Its time to reduce unnecessary social activities and hunker down,” said Montgomery Health Officer Stephanie Carey. “We have been lucky to avoid the worst outbreaks until now, but we are connected to other communities through employment, shopping, friends, and family. We cannot think of ourselves as an island. It’s time to become more cautious.”
