TODAY’S COVID-19 CASE SUMMARY
There have been thirty (30) new cases in Montgomery and Rocky Hill since our last report on Monday, 1-11-21 and two (2) more deaths. Detailed case report at the end of this ebulletin.
PRE-REGISTER FOR VACCINATION IN NEW JERSEY
“We are in a race between new infection and vaccination,” said Montgomery Township Health Officer Stephanie D. Carey upon reporting 30 new cases this morning. She recommends township residents pre-register for their vaccination if they haven’t already.
More than 1 million New Jerseyans have pre-registered to be vaccinated via New Jersey’s pre-registration website, covidvaccine.nj.gov, where you will be asked a few questions to identify what tier or order of vaccination for which you are qualified. Contact information, including an email address, your physical address, and a phone number will be requested. Certain groups will be prioritized such as hospital, EMS, and nursing home workers and persons aged 65 and older or with certain medical conditions.
Once each person’s turn to be vaccinated arrives, they will be contacted and provided additional information about where and when they can receive their first dose. Other COVID information, including testing locations, is available on the Montgomery Health Department website.
THANK A HERO FOR MLK DAY OF SERVICE
On Monday January 18, our country will pause and complete a Day of Service to our communities, to recognize the legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. While the covid-19 pandemic presents challenges of completing acts of service in-person and safely, the Township invites all artists – young and old, doodlers to professionals – to take a moment to thank the first responders in our community.
Make a card or poster thanking our Police Officers, EMS and Fire Department volunteers for their constant vigilance in keeping our community safe. Use whatever supplies you have at home – printer paper or construction paper; crayons, markers or pencil; glitter and stickers – to make a masterpiece that will make the day of our first responders who don’t hear “thank you” often enough for all they do for our community.
Drop off your works of art at the Municipal Building or Otto Kaufman Community Center the week of January 18 in the marked plastic bins, and we will distribute your cards to our first responders.
FREE RABIES CLINIC FOR DOGS, CATS
Montgomery Township is again offering a Free Rabies Immunization Clinic for Dogs & Cats sponsored by Montgomery Township Health Department/Animal Control on Saturday, January 30th (10 AM to 1PM) and Saturday, February 13th (10AM-12PM) at the SAVE Animal Shelter at 1010 County Road 601 in Skillman.

NJ STATE HEALTH CARE EXCHANGE STILL OPEN
Open enrollment under New Jersey’s state-run health care exchange under the Affordable Care Act is now open. If you need an affordable health care plan for 2021, visit getcovered.nj.gov to review plan options and learn if you qualify for financial assistance.
The State of New Jersey recently created this new program to provide additional financial help to residents to lower the cost of health coverage. Nearly 8 out of 10 New Jersey residents will qualify for cost saving options that significantly reduce the cost of quality health insurance. The expanded three-month open enrollment period continues until January 31, 2021.
